Bereavement Group

New Day

Our pastoral staff understands the importance of the support that is extended after the Funeral Rite and we believe that faith and prayer are foundational for the grieving process. The reality of a loved one’s death can lead us to an awareness of our need for God and others. Although each of us responds uniquely to grief, we can draw strength from those who are walking a similar journey. Participation in a Bereavement Support Group provides an opportunity for grieving in an emotionally and spiritually nurturing environment.

“The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed spirit.” Psalm 34:18

St Paul Parish has been offering the New Day Bereavement Support Group for over ten years immediately following Labor Day.  New Day is a spiritually based program of psychoeducation that eases the grief experience and is a valuable asset to the community including those who are not Catholic.   However, we must postpone this year’s sessions until at least 2021 because of the restrictions about social meetings.  When we resume, we will have an introductory open house and ten meetings of 90 minutes every two weeks.

If you or someone you know has experienced a loss, we ask that you contact us so that we might notify you when we start.  If you have questions, call Jack Rayburn.
